product description

arranged for six recorders (SATBGbSb) on alternating instruments or recorder orchestra and narrator by Dagmar Scherschmidt. Text: Barbara Metzner-Lucas. Claudio Monteverdi's opera "L’Orfeo" is a musical masterpiece that has lost none of its fascination, even today. In this arrangement, Orpheus' journey from Arcadia to the underworld and back to the upper world is impressively portrayed in twenty movements essential to the plot, played by high or low recorders and illustrated by narrated texts. Thanks to the alternation of music and texts (in German and English) the story is greatly dramatized. While it is worth playing individual movements as a suite, without a narrator, the full effect of the arrangement will be achieved through the alternation of music and narrator. Performance duration (music and text): approx. 50 minutes. Series Recorders Library
