product description
transcribed for violoncello, double bass, & orchestra, edited by Karsten Lauke. The original work, a concerto for two bassoons and orchestra, was composed in Vienna in ca. 1786. Especially in the low tessitura, Vanhal’s melodic originality cannot be compared to that of his teacher Dittersdorf. Nevertheless, it is characterized by exceptionally clear, melodically innovative, and yet highly virtuoso part writing. A significant work suitable for concert programs featuring the Viennese Classics. Musikverlag Saier & Hug
