product description

for violin solo, 2 violins, viola, & b.c., edited as first edition by Jolando Scarpa after the manuscript of the Sächsische Landesbibliothek Dresden. This concerto is without op. number and not from op. 1, which was published in Amsterdam in 1738.  It displays Brescianello’s characteristic style: the calm flow of the melodies and the dense atmosphere of the middle movements. In spite of his originality, Brescianello remained unrecognized in Italy for a long time. As “Oberkapellmeister” (chief chapel-master) he contributed greatly to the revitalization of Stuttgart’s musical theater.  CD-recording: La Folia Barockorchester, Stockfisch records 357.4086.2 First edition, Series Frutti Musicali
