Today's cello is only suitable for them to a limited extent, which is especially true for Suites No. 4 and 5. In doing so, the editor has transposed Suite No. 5, which requires scordatura on the cello, to D minor, making much of it come naturally on the viola da gamba. His edition is intended for practice and occasionally includes fingerings and bowing markings. Edition Güntersberg
