product description
for harpsichord, London ca. 1735, edited in two volumes by Jolando Scarpa. Already at the age of eleven, Smith was Handel’s favorite harpsichord pupil and studied composition with Pepusch and Roseingrave. From 1737 he was Handel’s musical assistant. The time has come to also discover Smith beyond his interesting oeuvre for harpsichord. He wrote numerous operas for which Metastasio, among others, wrote the librettos.
