for piano, edited by Thomas Hug. Berger's reputation is based primarily on his art songs. His compositional achievements on the threshold of the Romantic era in Northern Germany were significant. Among other things, he was also the teacher of Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn in Berlin. Berger's op. 7 was dedicated to Muzio Clementi and came into being under the impression of Beethoven's work of the same name.
