product description
14 pieces for viola da gamba, two horns and violoncello, and 2 pieces for viola da gamba, violin and violoncello, edited by Thomas Fritzsch. Hammer, a cellist and gambist, was a member of the Ludwigslust court orchestra in the second half of the 18th century. His five sonatas for viola da gamba and basso, some of which are also attributed to Andreas Lidl, are well known. What is not known, however, is the present Ludwigslust Collection. They include both original compositions by Hammer and arrangements of opera arias that he made. Two of the pieces are not accompanied by horns, but by a violin. Edition Güntersberg
